ASSOCIATE PASTOR (MINISTER OF RELIGION)

Overview

RCCG Jesus House Exeter, England is a vibrant, multicultural and rapidly growing parish of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), committed to raising disciples, strengthening families, and transforming lives through the Word of God, prayer and Spirit-led worship.

We are seeking a dedicated, spiritually mature and ministry-experienced Associate Pastor to support the Lead Pastor in providing spiritual leadership, pastoral care, discipleship and ministry oversight across the church. The successful candidate will help nurture a healthy, Bible-based church culture, strengthen our discipleship pathways, develop leaders and support the delivery of the church’s mission locally and beyond.

This role combines spiritual leadership, teaching/preaching, pastoral care, church administration and missional engagement. As a key member of the church’s ministerial team, the ideal candidate must be a Born-Again, Spirit-Filled Christian with a shepherd’s heart, strong biblical grounding and the ability to equip and mobilise others in ministry.

The candidate must have completed the RCCG Workers-in-Training process and demonstrate a clear understanding of the RCCG Statement of Faith (Tenets). Evidence of ministry training and ongoing spiritual development will also be required if invited to attend an interview.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Lead Pastor in the spiritual leadership and day-to-day pastoral oversight of the church.

  • Assist in planning, leading and conducting regular church services (including prayer leadership, exhortation, teaching and administration of service segments as required).

  • Preach and teach the Word of God in alignment with the vision, doctrine and theological beliefs of the church.

  • Provide pastoral care, counselling and follow-up support to members of the congregation, as delegated by church leadership.

  • Lead and strengthen discipleship structures (e.g., small groups, workers/discipleship classes, new believers’ follow-up, membership pathways).

  • Mentor and develop emerging leaders, workers and volunteers—promoting spiritual growth, unity, accountability and a servant-hearted culture.

  • Participate in evangelistic and outreach activities of the church, supporting mission within the UK and overseas where required.

  • Work collaboratively with ministry departments (e.g., children/youth, welfare, prayer, worship, media) to ensure effective ministry delivery.

  • Support church administration and compliance duties as required, including meeting preparation, reporting and record-keeping.

  • Report directly to the Lead Pastor/Board of Trustees on assigned ministry areas, progress and activities.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria:

  • The person must be a committed Christian with a genuine calling to pastoral ministry.

  • Must subscribe to the Tenets of Faith of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) worldwide.

  • Completed RCCG workers training, School of Disciples or any relevant ministerial course within RCCG.

  • Demonstrated experience in preaching/teaching and leading people spiritually in a church setting.

  • Strong knowledge of the Bible and ability to apply it within the context of discipleship, counselling and church leadership.

  • Proven pastoral and mentorship skills, with the ability to teach, equip and provide spiritual guidance.

  • Must have at least a Higher National Diploma.

  • Must have verifiable 2-years work experience in a job that involves intensive interaction with people regularly.

  • Must be computer literate to intermediate skill level (Microsoft Office Suites).

  • Must be willing to undertake missionary work and travels within UK and overseas.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Formal theological/ministry training (beyond RCCG internal training).

  • Experience overseeing multiple ministry teams/departments in a growing church context.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with cultural sensitivity in a multicultural setting.

  • Ability to handle confidential matters with discretion.

  • A team player with flexibility to adapt to evolving ministry needs.
