Overview
RCCG Jesus House Exeter, England is a vibrant, multicultural and rapidly growing parish of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), committed to raising disciples, strengthening families, and transforming lives through the Word of God, prayer and Spirit-led worship.

We are seeking a dedicated, spiritually mature and musically gifted Worship Leader/Music Minister to provide leadership for our worship and music ministry. This individual will lead congregational worship, oversee and disciple the choir and instrumental teams, and help cultivate an atmosphere where people can genuinely encounter God.

This role combines spiritual leadership, pastoral care, musical excellence and ministry administration. As a key  member of the church’s ministerial team, the ideal candidate must be a Born-Again, Spirit-Filled Christian with a shepherd’s heart and the ability to organise and develop teams, ensuring that all worship expressions honour God and align with the vision and doctrine of the church. The candidate must have completed the RCCG Workers-in-Training process and demonstrate a clear understanding of the RCCG Statement of Faith (Tenets). Evidence of ministry training and ongoing spiritual development will also be required if invited to attend an interview.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead congregational worship during services, integrating music, prayer and scripture to create a spiritually impactful atmosphere.
  • Ensure that worship services reflect the theological and doctrinal beliefs of the church.
  • Organise and co-ordinate regular workshops, rehearsals, and prayer meetings to strengthen the music and worship ministry.
  • Manage song libraries, music resources and service planning tools.
  • Participate in evangelistic and outreach activities of the church, using music as a tool for mission.
  • Provide pastoral care and counselling for members of the worship team and wider congregation, as delegated by church leadership.
  • Support the Lead Pastor and ministerial team in carrying out the vision of the church.
  • Report directly to the Lead Pastor/Board of Trustees on progress and ministry activities.
  • Arrange and organise worship sets in alignment with sermon themes and church calendar.
  • Provide vocal and/or instrumental coaching where appropriate.
  • Foster unity, excellence, and a servant-hearted culture.
  • Encourage creativity and excellence in arrangements and delivery.
  • Work closely with the sound/media team to ensure quality audio-visual support.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria:

  • The person must be a committed Christian with a genuine calling to music ministry.
  • Must subscribe to the tenets of Faith of the Redeemed Christian church of God (RCCG) worldwide.
  • Completed RCCG workers training, school of disciples or any relevant ministerial course within RCCG
  • Deep theological understanding of Christian worship, music, and liturgical leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading worship and directing music in a church setting.
  • Strong knowledge of the Bible and ability to apply it within the context of worship and teaching.
  • Ability to teach, mentor, and provide pastoral support.
  • Must have at least a Higher National Diploma
  • Must have verifiable 2-years work experience in a job that involves intensive interaction with people regularly.
  • Must be computer literate to intermediate skill level (Microsoft Office Suites)
  • Must be willing to undertake missionary work and travels within UK and overseas

Desirable Criteria:

  • Ability to compose or arrange gospel music.
  • Knowledge of multiple musical styles relevant to the congregation (e.g., hymns, contemporary worship, African/Caribbean gospel, etc.).
  • Ability to handle confidential matters with discretion.
  • A team player with flexibility to adapt to evolving ministry needs.
